The South Morang Data Centre Project will underpin vital next-generation digital infrastructure for Victoria and deliver critical economic benefits to the City of Whittlesea.
The Project has been identified as a priority project for the State of Victoria following ongoing consultation.
This priority status reflects the economic importance of the Project to the City of Whittlesea and the state as a whole, and the fact that it will serve to position the local region as a leading technology and innovation precinct.
The responsible consortium, including development partner Dover DC, is committed to developing the Project sustainably and mitigating negative impacts to the local community whilst emphasizing all avenues for increased net community benefit. This is reflected in the significant work undertaken by the consortium with government departments and agencies in addressing key focus areas for community stakeholders, including in relation to water use, local amenity, environmental offset and noise.
Effective stakeholder engagement is central to the consortium’s development approach, and it will ensure the local community is kept informed in relation to the Project. Further updates and information in the relation to the Project will be provided on this page shortly.

Data Centre
Major data-centre project with development approval achieved via the Department of Transport and Planning’s Development Facilitation Program.
DoverDC was one of the first data centre developers in Australia to receive approval through this process, and has subsequently achieved Invest Victoria.
With planning hurdles cleared, the project can move forward efficiently, saving time and resources.
The approval encompasses a data centre spanning five levels, with the potential to be expanded to suit tenant requirements.
The site benefits from its proximity to South Morang Terminal Station (SMTS). SMTS is one of the few locations in Melbourne that has significant capacity and does not require major network augmentation, resulting in favourable speed to market outcomes.
